All About The Food Skeptic...

My most recent adventure was a restaurant in Coventry, Blue Bistro. I had to sell it because I ran out of money. The old saw that asks 'How do you make a small fortune out of restaurants?' and answers "Start with a large one" springs to mind.

What people don't see, of course, is that the owner of the restaurant is leading a very strange split life. On the one hand I owned what was (and still is) seen as the best restaurant in Coventry, with a menu of delicious food. On the other all my money was tied up in the business and so I could have been living off of baked beans. Could have, apart from the fact that I know how to eat well for next to nothing. In actual fact I enjoy making great meals that cost bugger all. You get a real sense of accomplishment. And they're tasty....

Whilst all this was going on I was getting involved with Coventry. Times are hard and a lot of people are living on very constrained budgets. And many of them don't have the knowledge of food and cooking to make the most of the money they have available.

Through this blog I'd like to communicate my passion for good food - without isolating those that can't afford the types of meals that we see on Nigella. That's not to say it's going to be all hair shirt. I love food and I love cooking for friends, so I'm hoping that my foodie friends will find plenty of interest here.

In fact you will meet some of my foodie friends in the pages of this blog. I don't want this to be a one man band and am looking forward to introducing you to people as passionate about food as I am.

I welcome your ideas and feedback
